I am a millennial and my generation never grew up. You know that meme with Steve Buscemi holding a skateboard that says “Hello fellow kids”? That’s my generation.

There’s lots of reasons for this. A lot of them are economic. Our parents’ generation could go to college or university, get a job, and work that job for the rest of their lives. Our parents’ generation could dream of homeownership and buying a house was a reality for most of the middle class. These things are not realities for my generation. Our expensive educations guarantee us debt but not employment. We change jobs many times throughout our lives. And for most of us home ownership is far, far out of reach.
